Dog First Aid Box: 33 Essential Contents
Before an emergency ever arises, it is a good idea to have a dog first aid box on hand. You can buy one online, like the Bow Ow Dog First Aid Kit or make your own. Here is what the contents should include:
- Kit Box - A large tackle box with numerous compartments will work well.
- Paperwork - Use an index card to write down the regular vet clinic hours and phone number, emergency vet clinic hours and phone number, poison control number, and your dog's health record and medications.
- Muzzle - Buy one from the pet store or be able to make one with a leash, necktie, or panty hose.

- Pedialyte or other electrolyte fluid (to aid in restoring your dog's normal body chemistry)
- Buffered aspirin for pain relief and as an anti-inflammatory
- Maximum strength Kaopectate tablets for diarrhea
- Benadryl to treat allergies, insect stings, and itching
